Ever, ever:Never uninstall your system menuYour wii will not work very well without a system menu.Never uninstall your system menu iosIos30, Ios50, Ios60, Ios70Never uninstall any ios less the 200.Ios files under 200 are important to the wii, it is very important you will brick. Never ever uninstall.Remove Stubbed System IOS filesStubbed ios files are installed by nintendo durring system update. The 4.2 Softmod Guide #2PASSWORD FOR ALL FILES IS:OK guys! The guide you have all been waiting for is here! A full-complete guide to get HBC and backup launchers working all in one!! PLEASE READ THE WHOLE GUIDE AND MAKE SURE YOU UNDERSTAND IT BEFORE YOU PROCEED!!!!
We don't want any bricked wiis out there, do we?This will work on SYSTEM MENU 4.2 VIRGIN and UPDATED. It will work for 4.2e, 4.2u and 4.2j, dunno about 4.2k (Cioscorp users will have a problem, ' no vulnerable ios error', )There is a new DVD drive chipset that is starting to emerge that will not play DVDR, if your Wii came with sys menu 4.0 or newer on it then it could be one, the chipset is known as a D3-2 and the only way of telling if you have one is to open her up, but as this will invalidate your warranty you are better off trying to load DVDRs and if you just keep getting errors then it is a good indication that you have one. The USB loader will still work though so just follow the guide as normal.Warning, please all those who are on lower than 4.2, DO NOT update yet!! If you are on 3.1-4.1 system menu you should useWaninkoko's 4.2 SAFE updater is already out here, but it is not recommended that you update to 4.2 anyway. An online update will remove any cios you had on the wii!!
You will lose the ability to play backups and load through usb! This is only for those who are already on 4.2.Also, do not downgrade your 4.2 wii!!The only extra that you will need is an SD card (I reckon you all have one by now) formatted as FAT32. If you have anything stored on the card, back it up in your PC because you will lose anything, then format it, so it is Guide-ready.HERE WE GO!!PART A: The astonishing installation of HBC: First steps into moddingIn this part we will install HBC, which is used to run apps from the system menu, using the bannerbomb exploit.
Along the way, DVDx will be installed, this allows the lens to recognize burned DVDs (not play backups, just see they are there). In the end we will install Bootmii, which is a very useful app as we will see next.A1) and unrar the contents in the root of your SD card. In the root of the SD card whould be:root:appsroot:privateroot:wadIOS38-64-v3610.wadIOS70-64-v6687 PatchedFreeTheBug.wadboot.elfHacks.iniA2)Run to your wii, place the card in the SD slot and navigate to the SD card icon, bottom left, writes SD and has the same shape, can't really miss it. Once you did this, a warning screen about scams should appear, press ok, screen will go black.
A disclaimer shall appear, press one to continue.(note: following my guide you will never get an upside down HBC. If you ever find the HBC upside down, run this installer again and install HBC again)A3)Now three lines should appear: Homebrew channel, which can be isntalled, DVDx, also can be installed, Bootmii, which possibly will give you an error. Install Homebrew Channel, DVDX.
On bootmii option, select 'prepare SD card'. After it finishes, install it as boot2 (if possible) or as an IOS.Warning: Bootmii at most cases will give you an error, so it cannot be installed as a boot2. For most of you will be isntalled as an ios. That is fine.A4)After that you are ready, you have installed all of the above! Now an app can be palced in the apps folder in your SD card and be run by HBC! This has a load of functions: Media players, Emulators, Useful apps and Homebrew games!
Browse tham all here, but take care with the ones you dont really understand,as they might ruin your wii! Most of them are really safe tho. Those who were able to install bootmi as boot2 SHOULD BACKUP THEIR NAND RIGHT AWAY!!! If bootmii was installed as ios, then you don't need this step, although you can make one just in case.
Mind that you will need a Gamecube controller tho if bootmii was an iosHere is what you should do (abstract from Dogeggs' guide, hope he doesn't mind ). Ok seems that a lot of noobs ask me about a black screen at usb loader GX. This may occur in some cases:1)ARE YOU SURE YOU DID THE ABOVE CORRECTLY? If neither neogamma nor usb loader launch correctly, then steps B adn C were not done.2)ARE YOU SURE YOUR HDD IS COMPATIBLE WITH WII? Check this3)ARE YOU SURE YOU ARE USING THE CORRECT USB PORT? The correct one i the one at the side of the SD card adapter, the outer one, not the inner one.4)ARE YOU SURE YOU FORMATTED THE HDD WITH WBFS MANAGER?5)ARE YOU SURE YOU PARTITIONED THE DRIVE CORRECTLY? If you have more than one partitions, make sure the WBFS one is the first in row, primary and active. At the time it loads, see these for the settings:D4)Install wads (careful with that, ok?
Youare not priiloader safe. Definately do not uninstall ANY IOS LOWER THAN 200!!!
You will brick! I repeat for the Butt-heads: Do not uninstall ioses with a number lower than 200!!!)To install wads, select wadmanager, and choose ios249 and SD card on the options (should be default).-If you want Neogamma as a channel, install Neogammar8.wad-If you want USB loader GX as a channel, install USBLoaderGXr850.wad (this will install the full channel, but you can install the forwarder instead, USB Loader GX-UNEOForwarder.wad, which can be directly updated by placing updated version in the SD card, yet you will need the SD card constantly inside the Wii slot to launch it.
Install whichever sounds more useful to you)Note that your HDD needs to be formatted as WBFS with WBFS Manager.D5) You can now install ios202, ios222, ios223. From HBC, run cios222 installer and select ios249 to use. At the next screen, choose the following, one at each turn:-ios202, for usb - using ios38 (needed for USB2.0 support at Media Players)-ios222, for uloader - using ios38 (needed for USB support of instruments and stuff)-ios223 mainly for GH5 - using ios38 merged with 37 (same as above)Mind that you will need an internet connection for this!! If you do not have an internet connection, see appendix. You can also install the ioses using any other combination you like, But those are recommended for now, until a games needs otherwise. If a game does not run with USB loader, try changing the ios it uses through settings menu to one of the above. The following are really optional and not needed to play backups.
Also mind that incorrect use of them might brick you!! So use with caution!!D6) This will install a hacked ios70 on the Wii. Please read below very carefully, as you may brick your wii if you dont follow instructions properly. A hacked ios70 is needed for 2 reasons:a) Allows wiiware and VC games to run through SD card.b)Allows installation of priiloader, which is the only brick protection you can get if you don't have Bootmii/boot2. It is totally recommended to install priiloader. Here is how you install ios70:-Start wadmanager from HBC-Accept the agreement and with default settings (ios249 & SD card) press A to browse the SD card.-Find IOS70-64-v6687 PatchedFreeTheBug.wad and press A- Make sure you install and NEVER EVER uninstall the ios70! If you uninstall ios70 or any ios lower than 200, your Wii will suffer a slow and painful DEATH!-Once you are 10000% sure it says, press A to install the file.-Once it's done, press Home to return to HBC.-Now you can breath.D7)Installation of priiloader.
After you install ios70patched, you are able to install priiloader.-Find the Priiloader app in HBC.-Read the instructions, and hold down B, and press + to use ios249. This will install priiloader.-Once it is done, reset your wii and it will take you to Priiloader menu. If it does not, switch off, then hold down the reset button and press power to boot. This will take you to priiloader.
Make sure that your wiimotes are synced before doing this, or you wont be able to go to system menu (they said they fixed it in 0.3)-From there, go to Hacks and check the ones you want. Block disc update and Region free ones are recommended.
You can check what the others do If the system says that there are no hacks available do the following:GO and copy the hacks for you system menu version into the hacks.ini that exists in the root of your SD card. Then save and retry. Be sure to leave a blank line at the end. After you are done, go to the Settings and change autoboot to System menu.-Reset the wii. You are done!If you ever banner brick your Wii (God forbid) you can access priiloader menu by holding down reset button while booting the Wii, then access HBC to undo the brick (yeah i know it rocks). After that you can install all the Wiiware/VC/channel wads you wish, without bricking fear.APPENDIX.
To perform an offline installation you must do the following:1)Get NUSDownloader2)Run NUSDownloader and download the ioses needed by the app you want to run. For Hermes, I am not too sure which version of ioses 38 37 and 60 are used, so DL all of them to be sure. Mind that you sill need to select the version and not use the 'latest version' option.3)Make sure you dont check the WAD package option.4)A folder will be created in the folder NUSdownloader is. Its name should be sth like 0000XXvXXXX.5)You must copy the contents of the folder in the SD root, but three folders must be created, which should be named after breaking the original folder name like this: root:0000XXvXXXX.and inside the folder the files of the IOS should be placed.EXAMPLE: folder 0 should be in the root like root:0.
Note: I have not programmed or been part of any of these programs, credits all go to them! Team twiizers, bootmii and hackmii guys, comex for his bannerbomb, and all the others that created the various apps for the wii! I merely gathered them in a single guide. The 4.2 Softmod GuideIf you're not on 4.2, Do NOT Update, instead useThis is for people stuck on 4.2 with no cIOS.
Make sure your sd card is formatted to FAT32 or FAT16 and your Wii is connected to the net through Wi-Fi (although it should be possible to do offline), then download, Unzip the pack and place the files and folders onto the root of your sd card. Your sd card should like this:X:appsX:00000001X:wadX:privateX:boot.elfX:IOS38-64-v3610.wadX:IOS36-64-v3351.wadX:IOS15-64-v523.wadX:IOS15-64-v257.wadTAKE OUT ALL GAMECUBE MEMORY CARDS AND CONTROLLERS BEFORE PROCEEDINGStep 1 - Installing Homebrew Channel and Bootmiia. On your wii's main menu, click the SD Menu icon. Afterwards, insert the SD Card into the Wii. A Pop up saying Load boot.dol/elf?
Should appear. Select Yes.b. The Hackmii Installer should now run. Make sure to install Homebrew Channel and Bootmii as an IOS and/or boot2. Always install it as boot2 if your wii can.Step 2 - Backup Your Wii's NANDIt is highly recommended to make a NAND Backup with bootmii as it can save you from 99% of bricks.
That is, if you can install bootmii as boot2. You'll need a SD Card with atleast 550 MB free on it. Also note bootmii can be picky about SD Cards so its best to avoid generic ones.
The 2gb Sandisk MicroSD with an Adapter is recommended.a) Place the SD Card into your wii and power it on. If bootmii was installed as boot2, the bootmii screen should automatically appear, if it was installed as an IOS, then you'll have to go to homebrew channel, press 'home' on your wiimote then select 'Load Bootmii'b) Navigate using the power/reset/eject buttons on the front of your console and select the icon with the gears on it.
If the console buttons don't work, you'll have to use a gamecube controller.c) Now select the icon that has an arrow pointing to a SD Card but from the chip. Then follow the on-screen instructions to backup your NAND.d) In 10 - 15 minutes, the NAND Backup should be complete. You may have gotten a few bad blocks but any number of bad blocks under 80 is normal and fine. Once all is done, you can exit bootmii.e) Remove the SD Card from your wii and insert into your PC, backup the 'bootmii' folder, the 'NAND.bin' file and 'key.bin' file from your sd card onto a safe place on your PC. Once these files/folders are on your PC, delete them from your SD Card.
If you do not and bootmii as boot2 is installed, it will load everytime! If you were to ever brick, just copy the bootmii folder and 'NAND.bin' from your PC onto the root of your SD Card. Then repeat parts a, b & c but this time selecting the icon that points to the chip. While bootmii/boot2 can save you from full bricks, bootmii/IOS cannot!
It is not recommended to use bootmii as an IOS to restore your NAND!Step 3 - Restoring The Bug Into IOS36Pre-Note: If you have no working Wi-Fi Connection, you can try selecting 'Load iOS from SD Card' instead of 'Download from NUS'a) Load and Homebrew Channel and run DOP-Mii, on the IOS Selection Screen, select 'Install An iOS w/ fakesign' by pressing down on the d-pad then A on the wiimote. You should now be in the trucha bug restorer portion of DOP-Mii. Load IOS36 and select Downgrade IOS15. Each time it asks, select 'Download from NUS'Make sure you get no errors.
If Loading IOS36 doesn't work for this step, press B for no IOS reload when asked to load IOS. Although It should do these steps almost automatically, I'll just include the info.b) In the fakesign installation, once iOS15 is downgraded, it should begin patching iOS36. Make sure to install the patched IOS36 with all these patches selected (Just Say Yes to All of the ones that come up)Install IOS to slot (36)Hash Check (trucha) YesESIdentify YesNAND Permissions YesThen Press A on Install Patched IOS36. Again, everytime it asks, choose 'Download from NUS'c) On the same fakesign installation.
Load IOS36 and select Restore IOS15. Each time it asks, select 'Download from NUS'Once done, return to homebrew channel and continue the tutorialStep 4 - Delete The Stubbed IOSa)Re-run Homebrew Channel and Load DOP-Mii again. Choose the first option by pressing A (iOS:36), You should now be taken to a menu with three options: iOS, BC, mIOS. Select iOS by pressing A. Go to iOS222. Under currently installed, you should 'Stub', Press - on your wiimote and press A to confirm.
Do the same un-installation process for iOS223, iOS249 and iOS250 also. Do NOT remove any Other IOS!Once done, exit.Step 5 - Installing cIOS249-rev17a) Re-run Homebrew Channel and load cIOS38-rev17 Installer. Choose IOS36 and press A and then choose Network Install (requires wi-fi) or Wad Install (offline) and press A.Note for Offline Users: You must place this.wad on the root of your SD Card before running WAD Install:cIOS249 Installed.Step 6 - Install and Patch A Few More IOSa) Load up homebrew, then load up DOP-Mii. Load IOS36 or IOS249, select IOS menu, Navigate to IOS53, press + to install and say yes for Sig Hash Check (Trucha Bug) but say NO to the other patches. Do the same for IOS55.
Next press home to return to homebrew channel.Offline Method for Step 6 part A: Download and, place the two wad files you get into the wad folder on your SD Card. Load WAD Manager, load iOS249, SD Slot and disable NAND Emulation. Navigate to the wad folder, highlight iOS53-v5406 TB.wad, press A and install. Do the same for iOS55-v5406 TB.wadb) Load up homebrew channel once more, then load up WAD Manager. Load IOS249, SD Slot and NAND Emulation: Disabled, navigate to the wad folder, highlight IOS60patched.wad and press A.
Make sure action is set to install and Install the wad. After a successful install, Press Home to go back to homebrew channel.NOTE: Users changed who had a Korean Wii region changed to a USA/Eur/Jap Wii, Do NOT Install iOS70patched! Skip below step of c.c) Do the same for IOS70patched.wad. Make Sure the action is Set to INSTALL!Step 7 - Installing Priiloader (Brick Protection and System Hacks)Before continuing, download your hacks.ini file from, unzip it and place the hacks.ini onto the root of your SD Card.a) Load Homebrew Channel and run Priiloader v0.4 (rev78) installer.b) Press + on the wiimote to install.c) Your wii should reboot into Priiloader after the installation (If it doesn't, power off your Wii and hold reset on the console while turning it on). Go to System Menu Hacks and enable 'Block Disc Updates' and any other hacks you would like, select 'Save Settings' when finish. Press B on the wiimote to go back to the main menu, next go to Settings and use the d-pad to set Autoboot: System Menu.
Then select Save Settings. Press B to go back to the main menu.
If you get any problems, lookd) In the main menu, select homebrew channel to load the homebrew channel and proceed with Step 8.Step 8 - Backup LaunchersPre-Note: If you have a newer Wii, it probably has the D3-2 Drive which prevents you from loading DVD Backups. This means you'll have to use a USB Loadera) Load WAD Manager from Homebrew Channel, navigate into the wad folder and highlight either USBLoaderGXr929.wad or NeogammaR9beta10.wad. (Neogamma for Disc loading and USB Loader for USB HDD loading.)b) Press A on the wiimote and set action to Install WAD.
NUS Auto Downloader for WindowsVersion 4.1.5 Released!for more details and download linksThis program can be used to mod any Wii. This is an all in one! Download using the link above and follow the instructions within the program and everything needed to mod a wii will be loaded to your Sd card, and detailed guide pertaining to your system will be produced.Use this program to easily and automatically set-up your with the required filesto support offline installations of IOSs, System Menu's and Wii Channels using Wad Manager and/or Dop-IOS Mod. This will automatically download all the files you need to install your choice of system menu 4.2 (U/E/J/K), 4.1 (U/E/J/K) or 3.2 (U/E/J).
4.1.5 Changelog. Added 'USB-Loader Setup' Feature, which will generate a custom guide and download all the files needed to set-up your hard-drive, customize your usb-loader (configurable USB-Loader) and manage games (using Wii Backup Manager). Based on your answers, it will add some custom lines to the config.txt file used by configurable USB-Loader. Added 'on-the-fly error reduction technology'. Files are verified after they are downloaded, if files are missing or fail MD5 Hash checks, the file will be deleted (if applicable) and Re-Downloaded. Existing files are now only Skipped if they are successfully verified, otherwise, they too will be deleted and Re-Downloaded.
Note, that each file will only attempt to be downloaded 2 times, if it fails MD5 hash checks twice, it will move on to the next file in the cue (this is to prevent never ending loops in the event of real changes to the files). Files that used to be hosted on myfail.net (ie. Priiloader.ini) are now hosted elsewhere.
This will solve the 'Priiloader Hacks Missing' problem. Updated MD5 hash database (since many files changed after the 4.3 update), this will stop false-positive errors from occurring. Updated diff files for cIOS creation (this was necessary since the base wads changed on NUS servers). fvc is now used instead of sfk to verify downloads (sfk was not listing errors when NUSAD is in exe form). On the Verify/Download Log page, the window size will increase automatically to fit all the text (removed the +/- options to increase and decrease window size). Also on this page, added an option to ®epeat Download (this is useful to fix any errors that may have occurred in the download). When changing the Drive Letter, to Continue using Current Settings, leave the selection blank and type enter (instead of old method of having to type 'C').
Replaced lines consisting only of a single period '.' Format your sd-cardIf you have issues try formatting with Extract to SD:Requires a standard SD Card, 1-2g scandisk is best although PNY sd cards will work also.
SDHC cards will not work.READ EVERYTHING VERY VERY CAREFULLYStep 1- Load HackMii InstallerOption 1- Indiana PWNS - Works with 4.3u/e, Virgin Friendly-Play Lego Indiana Jones Original. IOSes and RVLs marked in red, such as IOS40 v2835 are needed. If you have a collection that include these missing titles, uploading them would be appreciated. This page is for downloads of IOSes and RVLs. Many of the files on this page come from NUS (Nintendo Update Servers).
Some come from the update partition of game DVDs, or if not available elsewhere, be extracted from a wii.IOS is the basic operating software in the Wii. It is the software responsible for controlling the hardware (device drivers), providing security, and performing other tasks such as downloading WiiConnect24 data. All software (with the exception of bootmii) requires an IOS to run. All official software and many homebrew applications specify an IOS to use when they run. If the IOS requested by a title is missing, the program simply hangs at a black screen.
While it is not known what IOS officially means, most agree on 'Input Output System' or 'Internal Operating System'. For a more detailed explanation and technical information about IOS, see theRVL is just a prefix placed on the name of WADs of system titles (system menu, MIOS, and built in channels). It originates from the Wii's pre-release name 'ReVoLution'.If you plan to upload IOSes or RVLs for this table, please ZIP or RAR them.

V3072 is a stub. @RAVMN: Sorry I haven't checked the comments sooner.
I'm out of town. If you want, you're welcome to upload them. I won't be able to until at least the 10th or 11th.
I'm on cell company EV-DO, and the speeds are dial-up. Took half an hour to download firefox. Also, I'm working on a look-alike replica of SM 1.0.I'm basing it on pics from a launch day wii manual (which shows the 1.0 menu), Wiibrew, an old Nintendo press release, and Google Images.
It's mostly finished. Only issues remaining are that I can't remove the SD functions and can't prevent channels from moving. You can downgrade to 1.0 and you have bootmii installed as boot2.
However, you can't use any exploits to upgrade because there is no SD card access. Also, you should know that all channels (including HBC) will not show up and your message board will be corrupted. If you want to mess around with 1.0, you should do the following:-backup your nand with bootmii before downgrading-downgrade/mess around with SM 1.0-restore your nand backup to go back to your original SMFor a newer model wii (LU64 wiis that can only install bootmii IOS) you can only test SM1.0 with SNEEK. I downgraded to Wii menu 1.0 and for some reason I had channels and my message board wasn't corrupted! The only channels I had were Disc, mii, photo, and blank shop, forecast, and news. Also, 1.0 seems to be unhackable without modifying the menu itself it seems the channels are 'hardcoded' into the menu. Tried out Smashstack by using bootmii to get to hbc then Neogamma and reinstalled hbc 1.0.8. The result: it did not appear on the menu. So if you want to use homebrew on 1.0, you'll need bootmii as boot2 and hbc ahead of time.

Yeah it is.As you said, most of the comments are either help requests or spam, and page edits consist mostly of Matt6969 updating the Wiiware listing.Good news is that download counts are healthy:) Most downloaded IOS is IOS249 v65280 (no clue why people want this). Most downloaded channel is Netflix with 5668 downloads. Also, I got time to try out all those dev channels:.
